My internship at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta has been an invaluable experience that bridged practical and academic learning. Over 17 weeks, I engaged in projects focusing on circular economy and energy transition, contributing through media analysis, field trips, and conferences. The experience allowed me to develop critical skills in analyzing complex systems, such as waste management, and explore Indonesia’s unique socio-cultural and environmental challenges.

Field trips to regions like Bojonegoro and Pontianak were eye-opening, providing insights into local practices and global sustainability issues. I also had the privilege of sharing Norway’s role in education and sustainability development with an enthusiastic audience, which enriched my understanding of cross-cultural collaboration.

Adapting to a new work culture and overcoming language barriers taught me patience and the importance of effective communication. This internship has inspired me to further explore sustainability challenges and solutions, preparing me for a future career that bridges global and local perspectives. I am deeply grateful for the personal and professional growth I achieved during this time. My experience at UGM has left an big impact, giving me new skills, broader perspectives, and memories to cherish. Truly a memory for life and will forever be grateful.
